We are grateful for your interest in KSU SAACS. You may have heard about us through an advisor, been to one of our meetings, or seen us at an KSU Student Life event. If you haven’t already, please take some time to find out about our club: it’s affliation, history, and government.

All students are welcome to join, regardless of their major.

Is SAACS right for me?

  • Are you or are you interested in becoming a chemistry or biochemistry major?
  • Would you like to be well informed about careers in chemistry or continuing education in graduate school?
  • Are you interested in leadership opportunities?
  • Would you like to build quality relationships with other students and faculty in your field of interest? Have you considered how you will receive peer or faculty references for your resume or school applications?
  • Do you need a scholarship?

Local membership

If you would like to join our local chapter of SAACS please contact us and let us know. Feel free to send us an e-mail to let us know of your intent and we will contact you to find out more about you and answer your questions. Otherwise, you can always let an officer know of your desire to join at one of our future meetings. Local dues are only $5.00 USD per semester or $10.00 USD per academic year. We can accept cash or personal checks. Sorry, no credit cards.

National membership

All local members are strongly encouraged to be national members of ACS, although national membership is not required. Even though they are related, local and national membership are considered completely separate from one another. There are many reasons to consider joining nationally to ACS.

Becoming a student affiliate in ACS places you in good company among some of the greatest scientists in the country. 163,000 members across 22 technical divisions join you in furthering scientific frontiers through chemical education and research. Student affiliate membership entitles you to receive:

  • The ACS weekly magazine, Chemical and Engineering News (C & EN)
  • The student affiliate magazine, In Chemistry
  • Significant registration discounts at ACS regional meetings
  • Access to ACS career and employment services
  • Student discounts to ACS journals and publications

You may also want to visit their student affiliate to find out about all the national member benefits.

Membership with ACS is handled exclusively with ACS, and it is considered an individual’s responsibility to arrange their national membership. The dues for ACS membership are determined by ACS and are out of the control of KSU SAACS. Non-national members may be excluded from some ACS-sponsored events (e.g. regional conferences). National membership is required for those in officer positions.

Visit ACS’s national membership sign-up page for a direct way to join or request an application at our next scheduled meeting. As of Fall 2005, there are two options for undergraduate, student affiliate membership to ACS:

  • Option #1 - $38.00 USD - Comes with a full year of C & EN (51 issues)
  • Option #2 - $23.00 USD - Includes no Chemical & Engineering News
